| Q: | Why weren’t additional reserved parking stalls added to S lot when the Global Village construction started? It appears as though three full rows of reserved stalls were taken by the construction site, with less than two full rows being reserved with temporary signs. It is now extremely difficult, if not impossible to find a reserved stall in the afternoon. |
| A: | Thanks for the question. Parking and Transportation Services (PATS) tells me that about 150 spaces of reserved parking have been taken off line in S Lot to accommodate the necessary construction for the utilities that will service Global Village. PATS adjusted the reserve spaces both south and west in S Lot to equal approximately the same number of reserve spaces that were originally in the parking lot prior to construction. They have been finding it difficult to keep non-reserve permit holders out of the reserve spaces due to the reduction of 150 general spaces. Multiple RIT Message Center notices have gone out attempting to redirect general parkers to T Lot, J Lot, and G & H Lots. The construction is due to be completed by May 1st, 2009. PATS is going to take a closer look at the reserve spaces and see if more adjustment is needed. |
